INGREDIENTS
500g sugar
200ml apple vinegar
1 tsp salt
1kg red onion
Bay leaves
METHOD
Cut the onion into thin slices. Place in a bowl and add bay leaves, vinegar, salt, and mix. Cover and let it rest for 4 hours.
Mix, add the sugar, mix again, then let it rest for 5 hours.
Pour everything into a pot and cook for 40 minutes over low heat.
Serve with toast and salad.
