Simple, soft, and oh-so-satisfying! These bread rolls are perfect for beginners and busy bakers. Minimal ingredients, maximum comfort.
📝 Ingredients:
-
3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour
-
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
-
2 ÂĽ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
-
1 tablespoon sugar
🧂 Optional: Add ½ tsp salt for extra flavor. Brush with butter for a soft golden top.
🍞 Instructions:
1. Activate the yeast (optional):
If you want a guaranteed rise, mix the warm milk and sugar in a small bowl. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
đź’ˇ Using instant yeast? You can skip the wait and add it directly to the flour.
2. Make the dough:
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour. Pour in the milk mixture (or warm milk, sugar, and yeast if skipping activation). Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead by hand for 8–10 minutes on a floured surface, or 5–6 minutes with a dough hook on medium speed, until the dough is smooth, soft, and elastic.
3. First rise:
Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with a towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm spot for 30–45 minutes, or until nearly doubled in size.
4. Shape the rolls:
Punch down the dough, then divide it into 8–12 equal pieces, depending on the size you want. Roll each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
5. Second rise:
Cover and let the shaped rolls rise again for 20–30 minutes, until puffy.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while they rise.
6. Bake:
Bake the rolls for 15–20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the bottoms sound hollow when tapped.
✨ Brush with melted butter while hot for extra softness and a glossy finish.
